Racine, Wisconsin is a city in and the county seat of Racine County. It is located between Milwaukee and Chicago on the shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Root River. As of the last census, Racine’s population was 78,860 people within the city limits. From its founding days in the early 1800’s, Racine developed an international reputation as an industrial community spawning such companies as J. I. Case, S. C. Johnson, Western Printing, Massey Harris, ln-Sink-Erator, Jacobsen Manufacturing, Twin Disc Clutch and many other widely recognized names. In addition to industry, however, Racine is home to museums, theater companies, visual arts organizations, dance studios, concert series and special organizations, galleries, performance groups, music organizations, and special art events. Racine also has several examples of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work including the Johnson Wax world headquarters offering frequent tours.

Racine’s public schools are administered by the Racine Unified School District which oversees 21 elementary schools, eight middle schools and six high schools with a combined student enrollment of around 21,000. Additional train service to Chicago and Milwaukee is provided by Metra’s Union Pacific Line with station located only 11 miles from Downtown Racine.
