The City of Kenosha is a city in and the county seat of Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Kenosha is the fourth largest city in Wisconsin, and also the fourth largest city on the western shore of Lake Michigan. Kenosha's passenger train station is the last stop on Chicago's Union Pacific North Metra Line making it an easy commute back and forth to Chicago. Kenosha County is not only home to the just mentioned University of Wisconsin-Parkside with over 5,000 students but also Carthage College with over 2,500 students and Gateway Technical College. Culturally, Kenosha offers three downtown museums; the Kenosha Public Museum, the Civil War Museum and the Dinosaur Discovery Museum all of which are Smithsonian Institution affiliates.
The City of Kenosha offers 74 municipal parks totaling 781 acres. In addition to many Lake Michigan centered parks and beaches, Petrifying Springs Park flanks the Pike River and was developed in the 1930s on the northwestern edge of the city. It is names for its artesian mineral water and offers over ten miles of trails winding through the wooded park (which also features an 18-hole golf course named the No. 1 Sporty Course in Wisconsin.
